Wendy Maybury – Famous Women Photographers
On Wednesday, Oct. 16, 6:30 pm, photographer Wendy Maybury will return to the WWPC to present the work of several noted women, including Dorothea Lange, Sally Mann, Margaret Bourke-White, Imogen Cunningham, and Joyce Tenneson, sharing the lessons every photographer can learn – inspirationally and technically – from these famous artists. The world of photography would simply not be the way we know it is today without the work of many incredible female photographers. They helped shape the artistic value of photography, whether it be by working on behalf of the government, collaborating on social projects, or shedding light on important global issues.
Maybury graduated from James Madison University and the Hallmark Institute of Photography. She worked with photographers such as Mary Ellen Mark, Ross Whitaker and Jerry Avenaim. She has photographed album covers, authors, explorers, musicians, comedians and a ton of families, weddings and babies. She is also noted for her sparkling stand-up comedy in clubs from Minneapolis to Houston.
