Being Enough

Being Enough

Did you miss Nic Stover’s program that he did on Monday night on the “Psychology of Photoography” for the TCACCC?  Nic will also be doing a program on light for us and the St. Croix Valley Camera Club on March 15.  See this post for more information.   Here is the recording of Monday’s program:

From a recent newsletter from Nic he said some things that really hit home. “There are 7.6 billion people on this planet. 3.5 billion Smartphones, which technically means there are 3.5 billion photographers.  How many of them pursue beyond a hobby or a way to capture what they ate for dinner? And how few of them call themselves professionals?  We can’t judge how crowded things are based on looking at these metrics.  The only way we can look at it is to look at ourselves and our perspectives related to what we need and what we seek.

“We as humans regardless of the number of zeros in our bank accounts need to be content with one thing. Being Enough. Some of us don’t have enough of what is needed internally and we supplement that in some other ways through external validation. For the photographers who complain of it being too crowded they are focused on what they don’t have vs what they already have. Images, places, clients, fans, money, followers.

“So for today. I am enough. What I do is enough.  There is more than enough beauty to go around.  Enough for us all to share and to find a small slice of what we find special or unique.  Someday I will turn into the shadows in my images in the dust that creates atmosphere within my images. My Ledger will zero out and only then will I have had enough of this world.”

“But until that time I will keep on keeping on, knowing that what I already have is … well … enough.”
