2020 Image of the Year
“Lift Off” by Melissa Anderson
I chose three images this year that didn’t qualify for the year-end judging and deserved much higher scores. “Julian Bay Stockton Island” by Steve Plocher has wonderful depth and sharpness. The beautiful sky and colorful water reflections made a nice contrast with the rocks and trees. “Monkey Zoo Business” by Carl Wegener has wonderful sharpness in the face. It was the eyes that grabbed me and the monkey’s bewildered stare. “Spellbound” by Kelly Perry was chosen for the creativity in capture. The figure was the focus but the creative lighting drew my eyes through the picture to make a wonderful whole.
