Mike Chrun will share a presentation on “Winter Photography on the North Shore”. The presentation concentrates on photographing several of the unique conditions that can be found on the North Shore in the winter: ice formations, large waves, and “sea smoke.” Preparation, equipment, timing, and locations are covered. There is general information on cold weather photography that can be used elsewhere; but, basically, the talk is about when and where to go and how to be prepared. The meeting will begin at 6:30 pm.
Mike considers himself a capable photographer, but doesn’t presume to be knowledgeable enough to go beyond the basics. He’s been going to the North Shore since the 1970’s to camp, hike, photograph, and cross country ski. Although he still goes in all seasons, more and more he finds that he looks forward to winter on Lake Superior. As a retired teacher, living in Taylors Falls, it’s not unusual for him to head up there for the day when he thinks the conditions might be good. Mike is also president of the St. Croix Valley Camera Club and joined our club two years ago.
Parking Changes in Hudson Coming Soon
Thanks to Bryan Leonard for posting this on our Facebook group. “A warning to our members, any visitors attending one of our meetings and guest speakers/judges. This fall, the city of Hudson is making parking changes. The cost is not changing, but the hours are. The new rules will be paid parking Monday through Saturday from 10am – 8pm. The paid time at a meter used to end at 5pm and I think Saturday was free (not sure on that one). So, be sure to plug the meter before attending any of our meetings. Oh, by the way, the meters are going away too. There will be pay stations where you can pay by coin, card or phone app.” The full story from our Hudson paper this week is here.
