WWPC programs to look forward to in March.

Wednesday, March 1, 6:30 pm: Douglas Beasley “Spirituality in Photography” – Zoom Only

What place does spirituality have in our photography?  Join us to see examples of how Doug incorporates spirituality in his art and how that adds more depth and meaning to his photographs.  His photographs act as spiritual metaphors expressing connection to the divine or to the eternal. This is different than documenting the religious or spiritual practices of others, this is so much more personal. It’s often more about feeling than knowing, the journey rather than the destination. Doug will share his journey with you. He is also open any and all questions concerning not only content but photographic process and technical choices.

Wednesday, March 15, 6:30 pm: Simon Tolsmann (Hunt’s Photo) “Macro to Micro: Photography with Bridge Cameras” Zoom Only

Good photos do not need to be taken with a $10,000 camera setup. Disposable cameras can take some of the most artistic photos possible, at the same level of intricacy as a DSLR. Using a point and shoot is my happy medium, and the capabilities never cease to impress. Salamanders posed on logs, flowers growing on the forest floor, birds perched in trees, soaring on thermals, or foraging on the ground are all common sights through my viewfinder. The secrets to micro to macro point-and-shoot photography are waiting to be shared.

Definition of “bridge camera” – Cameras that fill the niche between relatively simple point-and-shoot cameras and interchangeable-lens cameras such as mirrorless cameras and single-lens reflex cameras (SLRs). They are often comparable in size and weight to the smallest digital SLRs (DSLR), but lack interchangeable lenses.
