I am pleased to announce that Steve Plocher is our new president!
Steve began photography as a hobby when he was a teenager and his dad helped him to put together a dark room. He started out with film cameras and like so many of us, made the switch to digital and is now shooting with a full frame mirror-less Sony camera.
Steve grew up in Mankato, worked as a clinical psychologist from 1979 until 2000 and them became a project manager for software development at Accenture and retired in 2013. Besides photography, his other hobbies include woodworking, singing in a men’s chorus and a men’s quartet. He also enjoys biking, skiing, golfing and gardening. He tells me that people would be surprised to know that he taught disco dancing at the Theater Nightclub in Austin, MN in the early 80’s!
Steve became a member of the club in December, 2018. Since then he took a course in WordPress and has been posting galleries for our club salons and for N4C contests. He is also behind the series “Behind the Tens”, highlighting salon images that scored ten points in our salons. His preferred subject matter is landscape with a focus on waterfalls, wildlife and recently still life using light painting. He will be a great new president leading us into the future.
