Landscape photography can be surprisingly difficult. Oftentimes, we arrive at an awesome location but the photos we take don’t really reflect what we observed. Why is this? One issue is that our cameras only see in 2 dimensions whereas our eyes see in three. The other issue is that our cameras don’t have the ability to capture the emotions that you were feeling at the time that the shutter was pressed. On Wednesday, February 16, 6:30 pm, Don Tredinnick will discuss the following:
- Common Landscape Pitfalls
- Techniques for showing Scale
- Working with Light
- Adding context as a means of adding Context and Telling a Story
Don began photography at a young age when his grandfather gave him his first camera. He has since continued to create images that capture a moment in time as well as the emotion. His images have appeared in Lake Superior Magazine and North Cascades National Park Field Guide, and have been on display at the Redwoods National Park Visitor’s Center, the Minnesota Valley National Wildlife Refuge, and Fairview Ridges Hospital. He is the owner of Frozen Hiker Photography L.L.C., where he teaches and provides classes to improve photographers’ skills; his classes are offered at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum, Centennial School District Community Education, Minnetonka Center for the Arts, and Hot Sam’s Foto Park.
