Covid has of course been a challenge in recent years. Early in the pandemic, WWPC had to meet only by Zoom. Recently we continued to meet mostly by Zoom. There are pros and cons to meeting by Zoom
Pros:
- Less chance of catching Covid
- Speakers available from anywhere in the country and world
- Less worry about winter travel
- Easier to view the presented material on your computer screen
Con:
- Less chance to get to know fellow members
- Hybrid meetings have presented technical problems
Some members have expressed strong opinions that most meetings should be in person. Others have expressed strong opinions that most meeting should be by Zoom. The board met to discuss the format of future meetings and came up with the following plan:
- From November to March most meetings will be Zoom Only to take advantage of the opportunities noted above
- From April to October most meetings will be either In Person Only at the Phipps or Hybrid meetings at the Phipps that will also be shared by Zoom.
In the Calendar, each event will be labeled with:
- In Person Only
- Zoom Only
- Hybrid
