Jay Olson-Goude
I am pleased to announce that Jay Olson-Goude’s image from Maiden Rock Bluff in the fall will represent the State of Wisconsin in the upcoming United States Postal Service release of its Mighty Mississippi stamp collection. The series will feature one image from each of the ten states that border the Mississippi River along its course from the headwaters in Minnesota to its confluence with the Gulf of Mexico in Louisiana. The USPS has set a tentative release date of mid- to late-May of 2022 in Memphis, Tennessee.
This image is one of Jay’s favorites, and for many others, too. It captures much of what is so special about the Driftless Area: The soaring bluffs, the rugged coulees, the mighty Mississippi River, the ever-changing palette of colors, all under a big, beautiful midwestern sky. This visual richness draws us to the area and keeps him interested in trying to capture the sense of place through his lens.
