Wednesday, November 2, 6:30 pm: Zoom meeting: John Pennoyer “Shooting on the Fly”

- Program Description: Tips and techniques on shooting birds in flight. Setting up your camera properly, location, etc.
- Bio: Growing up in Kalispell, Montana it was natural for me to be in the outdoors, whether it was hunting, fishing or just hiking in Glacier National Park. I moved to Minnesota to go to school and my intentions was to move back to Montana, but here I am still in Minnesota. After school I took up bowhunting and to further my time in the northwoods of Minnesota, I also dived into photography. Little did I know how photography would begin to open my eyes on so many things besides Whitetail deer. I love to photograph the flora and fauna of Minnesota, but I also enjoy traveling and photographing around other parts of the country. My camera and lenses have always been Nikon but they are just the tools to get the image, it is the photographers vision to create the image. Many of my images have been used by Bowhunter Magazine, Peterson Bowhunting, Game and Fish Magazine, plus many other outdoor related magazines, and various calendar and notecard companies.

Wednesday, November 16, 6:30 pm: Zoom meeting: Arik Gorban “Visualization and Photo Evaluation” Creative seeing and understanding what it takes to make engaging and interesting photographs

- Program Description: In this program, Arik shares ideas and presents images that will encourage you to explore unique and exciting photo opportunities around your home or while traveling. The presentation focuses on creative seeing and understanding of what it takes to make engaging and interesting photographs. It will enable you to find interesting subjects and make creative compositions. This is an interactive program. It starts with a presentation on key considerations when making an image and the elements of a good photograph, followed by an interactive review and critique of a few images. The objective of this session is not to train you to become a camera club judge, but to help you take a critical look at your own work, as well as the work of other photographers. The discussion intends to provide you with tools, not rules, for making better photographs. Conformity to rules often inhibits creativity and the development of a personal style. The discussion covers a broader range of photography styles than the limited set of aesthetic criteria that is common to camera club judging.
- Bio: Arik is a photographer and photography instructor who focuses on the creative
aspects of the photographic art form. His experience covers the complete photographic process, including analog photography, darkroom work, and extensive digital imaging. He frequently judges photo contests, including multiple international Salon competitions and juried exhibitions. Arik presents photography programs internationally and exhibits his fine art photography. He also photographs events and conducts photography workshops. Arik Gorban is the recipient of numerous awards in photo contests and his work and articles have been published in the US and internationally. - To see more of Arik’s work, go to: www.agphotoworks.com
