Portfolio Title:  Black and White

Statement of Intent:  One of the things I love about making black and white conversions is that when you remove the distraction of color, form and texture becomes more apparent.  I don’t think I “see” in black and white but I look for dramatic skies.  When doing tabletop photography, I choose light-colored objects that I can place against darker backgrounds.  Black and white can help bring out the texture in long-exposure waterfalls and is my choice for street photography since it adds a sense of authenticity and realism.  I think that all of these are successful conversions because they contain a full tonal range with bright whites and have good, deep dark blacks.
