Spring Break was held at Mounds View High School on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13 this year. Jeff Morgan was the Saturday speaker and he came from “across the pond” (The Isle of Wight) to give his programs. He had lived in the metropolitan area seven years ago and many people in the camera club community remember him fondly. I attended a workshop with him in France in the summer of 2014 and beside being an inspiring teacher, he took us to some pretty nifty places. He went out of his way to please everyone, even to the point of giving me and another participant a five-hour drive back to Paris when the workshop ended. Beside having a great speaker on Saturday, there was a meal and an opportunity to shoot birds from the U of M Raptor program during the lunch hour. I had fun milling around the vendors’ area during the breaks and meeting up with photo friends. Mike and Sue Fries, members of our club, had a tempting display of a variety of products they make, using their images or yours. You can find them at Close-Up Images. The Sunday speaker was Ian Plant. I could look at his photos all day long and listening to the stories that go with them was pure pleasure.
Our members did very well again this year! Twenty of our members contributed photos for the club competition. Those twenty photos were pitted against twenty photos from other clubs in the TCACCC. This year our club took 2nd Place, sharing that honor with the St. Paul Camera Club. The gallery is here. For the individual competition, our members took home 42 ribbons or awards. Those inspiring images can be seen here. Congratulations to All!
