At the beginning of 2017 several members committed to a photography goal for the year by completing our contact form. At our first meeting of the year we will see what they’ve accomplished! I’ve had some sneak peeks and they are varied and impressive! Will you set a photography goal for 2018? When Michael Huber came up with this idea a few years ago, I took on the challenge. Making a commitment kept me on task and I accomplished some great new things.
2018 Dues Increase
In January our membership dues will be due. The advisory board voted to increase the annual dues for a single membership to $35.00. Family memberships will be $35.00 plus an additional $10.00 for each additional member living under the same roof. The increase in dues will make it possible to spend additional money to cover the cost of equipment replacement, to attract and help out of town speakers to cover their travel costs, and to compensate the Phipps for our meeting space.
Beside the payment of dues, we are asking that all members download and complete this membership form to help with planning. They should be emailed to email@example.com. The form is fillable and save-able once you download it.
2018 Calendar and Planning
Be sure to check out the calendar page on a regular basis. In the past few weeks program information has been added and more exhibit opportunities. We will have a program committee meeting on Wednesday, January 17, at 7:00 pm. Feel free to join us and bring ideas.
TCACCC Interclub Competition
One of the benefits of our membership in the Twin Cities Area Council of Camera Clubs (TCACCC) is the annual Interclub Competition. It is free and open to members of the Camera Council clubs. There are two parts to the competition. Part 1 is for individual members and there are five categories: Monochrome Print, Color Print, Nature Digital, Realistic Digital and Contemporary Digital. Part 2 is a club competition where clubs select 20 representative digital images taken by their members and the entire portfolio is scored.
On these frigid days, take time to find some of your best shots to enter. The entry deadline is February 11 and the 2018 rules will be posted on the Council website and on ours by January 21. The 2017 rules are still posted on our website and I expect only small changes. To see how our club has done in prior years, you can find galleries here, going back to 2012. In 2019 our club will be responsible for the digital competitions.
- Our February meeting will feature a judged salon. The assignment is “power” and the entry deadline is January 17. Here is all the information you will need.
- The N4C Contests have resumed after the December break. Since we judge black and white in November this month we can enter up to two black and white digital images this month. As always, the deadline for entering in N4C is the 10th of each month. Click here for more N4C contest information.
Happy New Year to All! Stay warm! I’ll see you next week.
